An upbeat melancholy is said to pervade all the songs on Another One, which was recorded and performed by DeMarco at his seaside home in Far Rockaway, Queens. Combining waggish guitar play with lyrics of lost love, the song delivers heartbreak with a sugar coating. The song finds the swashbuckling DeMarco back in a romantic state of mind. The song is a first taste of his mini-LP Another One that is due out on August 7th via Captured Tracks. The rumors over the weekend that Mac DeMarco joined The Strokes at Shaky Knees Festival to perform “Last Nite” may have proven to be false (turns out Julian and gang just gave the guy a shout out and a hug), but the release of his new track “The Way You’d Love Her” is definitely on the up and up.
